Service

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated mission of “Service to All Mankind” began at its inception. Alpha Kappa Alpha has remained at the forefront of positive change in American life, particularly in the African-American community for over a century. The 2018-2022 International Program will focus on  Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service . Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, through its nearly 300,000 members and 1,024 chapters, will have an opportunity to address community needs with programs in five target areas:

  • Target 1: HBCU for Life: A Call to Action
  • Target 2: Women’s Healthcare and Wellness
  • Target 3: Building Your Economic Legacy
  • Target 4: The Arts!
  • Target 5: Global Impact

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will expand its community presence as a result of these initiatives, which include International Community Impact Days and our signature enrichment program,  #CAP℠ which is the abbreviation for College Admissions Process. It is designed to assist students in their efforts to enter college by providing a hands-on approach that includes all the steps from researching various colleges to actually completing the application process

Leadership development within our membership is essential to the vitality of our organization. Our continued requirements of academic excellence, shared values and dedication to the mission of Alpha Kappa Alpha, ensures a continuous wellspring of quality leaders.

In 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority became America's first Greek-letter organization established by Black college women.  Her roots date back to Howard University in Washington, D.C..
